Dissolved Acetylene
Acetylene gas is mixed in liquid acetone for safe storage and usage. Acetone in acetylene cylinders helps stabilize the gas making it non-reactive within the cylinder. In this process, acetylene is dissolved in liquid acetone under high pressure. The cylinder is then filled with porous material like firebricks. Acetylene is used by the industrial gases industry for oxyacetylene gas welding and cutting due to the high temperature of the flame. Combustion of acetylene with oxygen produces a flame of over 3,600 K. Oxyacetylene is the hottest burning common fuel gas
Acetylene is used for carburization (that is, hardening) of steel when the object is too large to fit into a furnace
